Why move???

Loved reading Anandita’s post “Don’t Go”. I am working in a company for a year now (as a technical writer, obviously) and almost every month we get a ‘bye, thanks for everything’ mail announcing an employee’s last day. As I am still in a newcomer to the tech writing community, I am curious to know why people quit an organization:

• Is it because of a low salary?
• Work not interesting enough?
• Lousy teammates – by that I mean, lackadaisical, apathetic approach to work, ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude, in short no passion towards their work and who pull you down with them.
• Even lousier boss – arrogant, dominating and intimidating, belittles you in the presence of your colleagues, in short loves to show you ‘Who’s the Boss?’ (I even read an article recently that ‘monster bosses’ is one of the main reasons why people quit)
• Personal/health problems

(Hey, this could be a poll)

Remember the old times, when our dads joined a company and retired from the same. But the new breed today is different, they find it difficult to stay put in a company. What lures them to newer pastures?????? Is it one of the reasons above or any other I cannot think of?

Thanks for your input.

After the initial heady feeling of a new job, challenges, learning new things, work has kind of slowed down and is getting boring. Quite a few people quit, hence the post.

Changing jobs

Of all the reasons mentioned, except low salary and health issues, I have changed jobs for all other reasons.

One more reason that I can think of is -- sitting on bench for a long time, which doesnt add anything to the experience, that also can be one of the reason for change.
