A few weeks ago, I posted a message to this list about Tekom
certification for India-based technical writers (aspiring and
experienced).

We're organizing an interactive workshop on 22nd October in Bangalore
to learn about the following:

* Certification opportunity for professionals
* Certification opportunity for trainers
* Business opportunity for companies and trainers

Target audience for the workshop:
* Technical writers interested in certification for their professional
development
* Documentation managers interested in providing India-specific input
to Tekom folks
* Technical writing companies interested in business/partnership opportunities
* Trainers interested in certification for increasing their
credibility and training opportunities
* Anyone who cares about technical writing education

As you probably know, Tekom is the largest TW organization in Europe.

Tekom is announcing "TCTrainNet," an initiative that establishes an
international network for professional training in technical
communication.

Elements of TCTrainNet are:
* An elaborated training program in technical communication
* The “TCTrainingPlatform”, a web-based learning platform
* A certification scheme on different levels
* An international network with licensed partners
* A pilot project in which the partners come together

A technical writer can apply for the following levels of certification:
* First level
* Advanced Level
* Trainer Level

"TC TrainNet" will use an eLearning Platform that contains 21 learning
modules with blended learning contents, all in English language, based
on the modules which tekom has developed for the tekom certification
scheme. They are being developed by international subject matter
experts. Each module contains interactive learning units, self study
materials, webcasts, the use of social media and interactive tests.
Additionally, there will be on-site training units available.

Before TCTrainNet is implemented, there will be a project starting at
the end of 2010. During the different project stages, the
TCTrainingPlatform will be developed, staff recruited by potential
partners will be certified on First Level and Trainer Level, thereby
using the training platform for the first time. The pilot project will
be finalized by mid 2012.

"TCPartnersNet"
After the pilot project TCTrainNet will become fully operational. The
TCPartnersNet will be established:

* Partners will be given licenses for regional centers
* Partners will train technical communicators
* Partners will certify technical communicators according to tekom’s
regulations, under supervision of Tekom
* Tekom will administer and maintain the training platform and develop
it further
* Tekom will supervise the certification activities
* Tekom will train and certify trainers
