I heard friends telling first 2 yrs it would be between 1.5 - 2 and from third year onwards it is 1 lakh per year. Hopefully it should be somewhere around 3.5 - 4.

However, I am not sure on this and even my pay is not as per this calculation :-)

nope the market is good now..you can expect something above 5 lakh now

Salary structure varies from company to company and also the city where you are located. Generally, salaries are calculated by taking into previous CTC into consideration. If your experience was entirely 4 years in technical writing, then you should be expecting somewhere around 6 lpa in medium sized companies and 6.5-7 in big MNCs. As I said, it entirely depends on your previous salary.
For example, if your current CTC is 4 lpa, the companies could fix you in the range of 5-5.5 lpa (i.e. 30% hike).

You can easily expect a salary of 6 lakh per annum
