Announcing a Special Event on Cloud Computing for Technical Communicators on October 15th
Folks,
Here's a quick reminder. Please register before October 12. Many of
you have sent in your registration requests. Thanks for doing that.
We can accommodate 5-6 more participants for the Webex session. The
Webex session is not for Bangalore-based technical writers.
For Bangalore-based technical writers, we can accommodate a few more
participants (maybe 8-10 more) for the in-person sessions. For venue
information and directions, see my previous announcement message
below.

communicators. As technical communicators, we keep
discussing technical writing topics, trends, and processes. See the

This event starts at 9:30 am on October 15th, and we hope to wrap up
by 1:30 PM. Lunch, refreshment, coffee provided. This event is

The primary goals of this event are to:
* Introduce cloud computing concepts to technical communicators
* Discuss how this emerging paradigm impacts technical content and
technical communicators

* Cloud-Based Tools for Content Developers by Matthew Varghese – 11:45

* Our Journey to the Cloud - During this session, Mayur Polepalli will
talk about why they decided to move user documents to the cloud. He
will start with the real business reasons for the move, go on to talk
about the different challenges they faced, discuss how he got all the
teams involved, give you a demo of the system, and end with an
interactive Q&A session. – 12:45 to 1:30 pm
Presenter Bios:
Gururaj (Guru) manages the hardware and software documentation for
Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, which is world’s first cloud machine or
“cloud in a box.” With a focus on building the infrastructure for
virtual private clouds, Oracle’s Exalogic provides the necessary
hardware, computing, database, and application infrastructure as
services to enterprise customers.
Mayur Polepalli started his career as a technical writer with Logica
in 2000. From there, he progressed his career to a Documentation
Manager. His profession and passion (photography) have taken him to
various parts of the world. Mayur has worked with industry giants such
as Oracle, with startups such as Sling Media, and is now working with
Trend Micro, an Internet Security provider. He loves writing,
usability, helping people, learning languages, and conquering
challenges with technology. During his spare time, he runs a group
dedicated to foodies in Bangalore.
Matthew Varghese is a content architect at Networking and Cloud
division, Citrix. As a Content Architect, Mathew develops information
models, runs content collaboration initiatives, and drives content
strategy for his division. He is an ardent DITA evangelist and a
staunch supporter of the open source movement. Earlier this year, he
spear-headed the development of a graphical user interface for DITA OT
and released it to the open source community. He is currently
developing a DITA-based information architecture methodology.
Tehmurasp Ghyara (TG) is a senior principal technical writer at
Oracle, Bangalore.
