Qualification:

Bachelors/Masters in Engineering (EE/ECE/CS) or Masters in English with a professional degree in Technical Writing

Experience:

12+ years of experience with at least 5 years of managerial experience in a Technical Publications environment
Experience as a Technical Author for embedded hardware or embedded software
Experience of working as a hardware or software engineer in the embedded electronics industry is extremely desirable
Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced, evolving production environment
Demonstrable line-management experience

Understand the documentation production lifecycle
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrable ability to interact effectively with:
- The global Technical Publications team
- Cross-divisional project management
- Cross-divisional engineering management
Demonstrable capability to work across, and understand, multiple technical disciplines

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of structured content such as XML and SGML
Knowledge of the DITA content model
Experience of working with a content management system
Writing topic-based documentation designed for reuse
Working knowledge of:
- Technical writing applications for structured content such as oXygen
- Vector graphics application such as Visio
- Bitmap manipulation application such as Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop
- Animation application such as Flash
- E-learning application such as Captivate
