Where the Tool Guys Win
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 12:18Which is more important for a technical communicator? Writing skills or tool skills?
The 'intelligent' answer is both on an equal basis. You can tell this to interviewers; they will nod in agreement. But what exactly is the reality? In companies, it is the tool guys that rule the roost whether it is MS Word, FrameMaker, Robohelp, or Flare, and not the guy with excellent writing skills. If you have average writing skills, but excellent tool skills, you career can go places. You are one of the promising people in the company from a non-technical background.

Submitted by vinehaish on Fri, 09/05/2008 - 11:41Hi
I recently started using Multilizer 2007 (Localization tool) and I don't understand it properly. There are no tutorials or user manuals available for Multilizer, and the online help is not very good.
Can anybody help me, for my queries as of beginners' level?
Thanks for your time.

I am trying to create an Online help file for a Website with Hindi as language. I am using Robohelp.
Problem: I have some 20 word documents (in hindi format) that I imported in Robohelp. Now, I want to create a Webhelp by integrating all of these. However, every document contains data for one meny Item (Department in our case). If I generate primary layout of these documents, the Webhelp result comes blank.
